Stealth Masks?

Has anyone used these before or know anyone who has. If you've not seen them they are black silicone, black framed masks with a "special" felective coating. From what i understand they will look mirrored underwater. Is this not a bit dangerous, not being able to see other divers eyes, or am i paranoid...... LOL

I have one and tbh they don't really do what they say on the tin. I think they are meant to artificialy add red back to the spectrum but the effect is minimal. To answer your question, you can see the divers eyes through them it is just a little more difficult.

I've got one and to be honest its more of a novelty mask than anything else I couldnt tell a great deal of difference below the surface and the only difference above the surface was the 16 year old son of the dive centre we were using thought it was coool man.

You can have mine for a tenner!...... The colour replacement 'feature' works ok in the shallows where the red colour hasn't been totaly removed but once you are bellow that it is pointless(because the other colours are being removed too). All this said the mask fits me really well and is comfortable, so is the beaver atomic mask. PM if interested.

2006 was a year of leaky mask problems for me, think i need some botox.
just bought one these cos it fits me narrow face , covers me crows feet & is dry as a bone.
Have to admit was a bit reluctant to buy the thing with such a ball bag name and finish but it does the job so fcuk it.
Can't comment on the reflective coating underwater apart from the fact looking thru it is like any other mask.

Elfyn, I can't wait!

Brett at Divelife stocks these (they're just part of the range of other stuff he has) but he says they sell really well - to a 'certain sort' of diver. You know exactly who I mean. The type who'd spray their tanks and backplates black to look like they are from the SBS and are really longing for a Scubmatix. Tell them it's a 'Stealth' and the money is as good as in the till!

We always have a giggle when someone comes in browsing and insists on buying one even though it quite clearly doesn't fit.

Not surprised it's the only thing you can find though - they do seem to be an odd shape; very narrow. I've always thought of them as a novelty mask aimed at kids! First thing I thought was that it was a bit of a risk if your buddy couldn't see your eyes - a bit daft really.

If you have a small face, try a Seac Sub Xtreme.

Free diving mask, very small and low profile and only £10 from Decathlon

yep ashamed to admit its all a bit cheezy mark, when you say "spray their tanks" i take it this has nothing to do with paint.
fcuking "stealth",should of posted that wearing one of these means yer can't see a thing out of it cos the bollocks are hanging down over yer eyes but desperate measures and all that.
i've used the same masks for the last 17 odd years the old tusa liberators cos they did the job but age seems to have caught up with me and they no longer fit the bill.
Total Bastard
