Question New Dive Bag needed this w/e: Any Suggestions?

I've just booked up for a last minute diving holiday in Sharm starting this Sunday and my mother has just given me a cheque to go and buy a new dive bag... so, does anyone have any suggestions or definate 'don't buys' that would be of use to me? Not much time left so supplier needs to be close - I'm guessing Divers Warehouse or Robin Hood Watersports as I live in Bradford. DW does Beaver & Seeman Sub. RoHo does Aqualung & Scubapro.

Thanks & Happy New Year to all of you

Shuna

Go to field and trek and buy a North Face expedition bag. Rugged waterproof and doesn't have 'Steal me I'm full of dive gear' written all over it

Hi Shuna

I have two dive bags, a big Scubapro rollerbag and a non-branded one (also on rollers) from a cheap luggage shop. I actually prefer the non branded one as I can get more in it, apart from the fact that it doesn't have an extending handle which makes it more difficult to pull long distances. I also like the fact that it doesn't advertise I have expensive dive gear in it.

The advantages of a 'proper' dive bag are that you can get them with wet and dry compartments. If I were buying a branded on I'd also like one that you can pull on rollers as well as carrying like a rucksack too.

Not much help to your original question I know, but I'd consider getting a bag that doesn't scream 'steal me'.

One of the big suppliers (may have been F&T, if not Cotswold outdoor) had these in the sale not long ago. Well worth a check.

If you dont get one then Ralftec do a really nice bag the outer being made from rubberised nylon. Im not a big fan of loads of pockets on the outside as they tend to get bashed and cant be secured easily and this has none. The Ralf Tec one is a huge bag which zips in half and folds out with one "dry" half and one "wet" half. Basically half for your suit, bcd, regs etc and the other for undersuit and clothers. It has wheels and a telescopic handle too.

Chris Denney at Denney diving sells them and does a very good delivery service. Give him a phone 01642 486666

Whatever you get, make sure that as long as being sturdy, it is relatively light - my old IQ one ate up most of the weight allowance, now I have a 'regular' suitcase (as per Helen and Conor's comments above).

Have fun in Sharm!

Hi Shuna,

TK Maxx at Cown Point has a load of roller hold alls that might do as unbranded bags.

Have a great trip!

Oops yes, forgot to mention another reason I like the £20 holdall is that it is considerably lighter than the Scubapro one, although the material is still robust.

Thumbs up Thanks everyone!

Thanks to those who replied. I've bought an Argos bag for 19.99. It has 121L of space which turns out as being just enough and has no 'STEAL ME' logo on it. I hope it survives better than the 9.99 bag from Priceless Shoes that I took to Greece - the seam split and the zipper tags are now unmovable - the reason for a new bag.

Only a few hours to go.....
