Pressure Gauge Leak

All,

I have an AGIR Brok Pressure Gauge and whilst testing in the bath noticed a small leak as in picture below.



I unscrewed to check inards.



Apart from looking a bit manky and in need of a clean, I checked the tiny O rings on the bit on the right (don't know the proper name) and they looked fine. Put it all back and the leak has stopped but every time I take a breath on it the gauge needle fluctuates.

Any help on solving this problem and best method of cleaning would be great.

Hi Mate,

for a start replace the swivel I have just put a 5th in mine and put a smear of 02 grease on it, but I don't know if a faulty swivel would cause a needle fluctuation though.

I would wipe the orifice [steady] with a cotton bud but I wouldn't immerse it as you'll probably get water stuck in the gauge.

Have you checked that the HP spindle (the bit with the"o" rings) is clear through the drilling?.

The needle fluctuation only happens with this gauge and not my others.

Get an IP gauge (Knackers for a few quid) on the first stage and make sure it's delivering the correct IP pressure (usually about 9 bar dependant on make) Bouncy SPG needles - not good

The little O rings are always getting crudded up and leaking on the little swivel thingy. I usually just chew them very gently and the "oxygen clean saliva" plus gentle abrasion removes the crud and cures the "brittleness" then a bit of Christolube and you're good to go.

They need changing regularly in an ideal world - but it works as a temporary fix. HTH
