Flooding mask - Bad luck Mark !!!

During the summer if anyone read my posting you will know I had the unfortunate bad luck to loose my perscription mask in a somewhat ungracefull boat entry (NO laughing - those that were present !!!). As I had only a short time before my next dive trip I dednt have time to visit my not so local - loacl dive shop. So I decided to play it safe, my old mask was a Technisub (Aqualung) Look mask it was always a perfect seal and I never had any problems with it, so I ordered by post exactly the same mask with perscription lenses in it, this time they changed the lenses to perscription, last time they had sent my mask to an optical lab to have lenses fitted into it.
Now to summerise.....
No problems with old mask - never flooded.
Exactly the same make and model mask ordered as replacement.
Problem:
New mask floods continually, it seems to seal on my face ok, I have even stripped it down to check the new lenses are fitted ok !!!!!
Bad luck or what..........especially when you add the cost of perscription lenses onto the cost of masks in the 1st place.

Hi

There may be some silicon residue on the skirt of the mask. Perhaps give it a really good scrub, some people say toothpaste works well (not the lenses obviously )

Without the strap are you able to place the mask on and hold it in place without hands, by breathing in through your nose? You may be able to suss out where the problem is with this method.

Sorry if you have already done this, but I thought I would ask.

Andy

I havnt tried the toothpaste bit, but have tried holding it in place by holding my breath, that seems to work fine.
