Imported post Take no notice of him Eddie, tell me... how hard are you gonna look with a pair of poncy scissors.. eh? eh? No mate... you need to get yerself an 18" Bayonet, sharpened to a razors edge, and with a really cool sheath that straps to your first stage so that you can reach back and whip it out from behind your head.... now thats cool...

Imported post I have a roughty toughty large divers knife strapped to my calf with the obligatory telephone code attached (knife has large serrated edge. Suggest also a small stinger type knife within easy access (fastened to bcd straps in chest area). Thankfully not having been in the position I'm told that scissors are in fact the best thing for cutting you out of those diver unfriendly monofilment nets. Worth carrying?

Imported post A crocodile Dundee job.... now that's a knife!! might as well just carry one of those D.I.Y. throw away ones.... sharp enough to circumcise a gnat!

Imported post Eddie, I agree with andy about using a kitchen devil, (with the proverbial rubber tubing as a sheath). But if you can get hold of a broken band saw, (size does matter!!) about 12 inches is ideal then you grind the opposite side from the serrated side to a sharp edge. take a 1.25 / 1.5 inch diameter,4 inch / 5 inch piece of rubber hose, put the handle part of the band saw into the tube and squeeze silicone bathroom sealant into the tube, before it goes hard squash handle to make it more oval. this is a KNIFE! make a sheath out of....yes you guessed it a piece of rubber tubing, squashed flat. regards to all, moon

Imported post ...nice, like it. Even cheaper looking and sounding than my kitchen devil special? Shall we start a new thread about the easiest, cheapest and most importantly, non DIR way of doing things?

Imported post That’s a big knife mister, is it for killing sharks? How many times have you been asked that? To be proper tooled up. A sharp knife like a “KD” and a big bugger just to look like a proper diver. Also an air powered chiseller (They run off an independent air supply and old first stage) and crowbar is the bizz. “Why CTJ?” Do you remember the old Lambs Navy Rum adverts from the late seventies, with the beautiful babe in her black tight rubber suit and the big black divers knife strapped to her leg? That’s my sort of dive buddy!

Imported post Exceptional taste there CTJ ! The lady in question was Caroline Munro who fuelled many of my more enjoyable dreams during adolescence,I hope she's happy wherever she is!Herte's a link to for those who don't remember, she'd still make a bishop kick a hole in a stained glass window. http://www.britishhorrorfilms.co.uk/...e_munro.shtml.

Imported post Well, reluctant as I am to come over as an extravagant Southern poof, I have a titanium knife by OceanMaster (most welcome Xmas pressie). It has a 5" flat tipped blade with bread-knife style serations along one edge. The sheath is good because it has a "dual-locking" mechanism which clamps the knife in place when you put it in, and then there is an extra safety clip that slides into place over the fingerguard to stop it falling out when I am doing my movie stunt scenes (ahem). I particularly like these safety features as they will mean that it takes 6 months instead of 3 to lose!! I'm not telling anyone how much I think it cost either because I'll never be allowed back on a forum of such practically minded and innovative people! Ralphy

Imported post You don't need thst at all Ralphy.Send it to me to look after and I'll send you a "Great Wall of China" brand Kithchen Devil rip off from a good northern pound shop,in it's own yellow gas hose sheath.I'll even sharpen the flat edge for you.One thing with the thinner stuff eg.kitchen devils is that they can snap quite easily,I snapped one on my very 1st job and the broken end went right in the Supervisor's wrist,he thought I was hilarious, well I think that's what he said.Regards.
