Imported post Can't be doing with 'dive etiquette' - I got a stainless steel 6" blade in a lockable plastic hard cover for £15 and its fine. If I lose it, it's not a great financial loss, if it rusts I clean it with sandpaper! Don't go for the pathetic 'politically correct' small BC knives - you need a sturdy knife with a cutting edge and a serrated edge (also a hammer on the handle may be useful too!) Regards

Imported post Best diving knife I ever had - a Kitchen Devil for a quid off the market. No need for any of that fancy crap.

Imported post I know Andy's got his favourite (kitchen devils) but I do have a knife which it still as good as new 14 years after I bought it, and I've never had to vaseline it or anything. It's a Blackie Collins Wenoka Z-Lock (remember them?) and it did cost a few quid, but judging by it's condition, it was a few quid well spent!! It's a leg-strap job with a 6" blade!! I don't know that Wenoka exist any more (I think they were bought out by SeaQuest / SeaStyle). I'm not up to speed on the current knives, but as Andy and Jay say, don't spend a fortune because if you lost it you will be gutted!! (Edited by bantam at 8:28 am on Mar. 6, 2002)

Imported post Eddie I'm using a US Divers knife, it has all of the necessary serrated and other cutting edges, flat tip for prizing stuff and a steel end to the handle for whacking with something heavy, I've never used it in anger yet (for anything) I just bought it cos it makes me look cool...

Imported post US Divers knife sounds like a good investment, will look into the costs, need to buy a DSMB and a reel this weekend any way! for the trip to St Abbs...

Imported post Andy, quick question for interest, what made you think to use the kitchen devil as it's not so commonly known?

Imported post Why a knife? When was the last time you needed to whack someone? ever tried to cut yourself, or someone, else out of line - you carn't get the purchase - buy yourself some surgical scissors - life becomes alot easier.
