A question? (which may be daft)

the LP ports on my first stage are different sizes between my main reg and my octopus. Is there a reason for this???I'm in the middle of swapping stuff over so I have 1 5ft reg. (donating this in emergegencies) With my auto-air, (and pony reg) as my back up.

Again if any one has hints tips or things to watch out for I would be grateful..

ta

The reason given is that it allows a greater flow of air, but i am not sure if it actually does. Of course it also means you have to carry two spare reg hoses, or an adapter, if you can find one.

Had the same problem.

I elected to convert my original to Din which kept the hose/connection which I use as the backup reg.

I bought a new Ist stage (and had the smaller ports) so I used a long hose with a smaller port thread (standard???)

I dont have any probs and as far as I am concerned air delivery is not impacted.

I believe you can get an adaptor to make the large port smaller

Or if you are uneasy about using an adaptor (adding an extra o-ring) you could get a blanking plug for the larger port, which has a 1/2 inch UNF thread. The 'standard' LP ports have a 3/8 inch UNF thread. Blanking plugs can be obtained from Apeks or Sub-Aqua Products.
