Ehh..? What's the difference? Air is air is air... All you need on your cylinders is a single cylinder with the green diamond etc. You certainly don't need two stickers - anyone who says you do is probably hoping to rip you off by making you pay double. I can supply you with the official IDEST stickers no problem, they're 50p each plus p&p. |

| Imported post IDEST = Inspectorate for Diving Equipment Servicing and Testing |

| Imported post I knew that, but I did not think they had anything official to do cylinder-marking requirements |

| Imported post I presume those of us coming from Sweden to dive at the Farnes and St Abbs in September will need to have these stickers on our cylinders. Will I be able to pick some up at LIDS on Sunday? If so, where? (Edited by John Gulliver at 12:41 pm on Feb. 26, 2003) |

| Imported post No, it's not that the stickers are official because they're IDEST, I mean that the stickers are the ones officially approved by IDEST. And generally speaking, if it's good enough for IDEST, it's good enough for your dive shop. Unless they get snotty about you not buying stickers from them at X pounds each... |

| Imported post Hi The changes are to conform to European standards so they should IMHO not be any different to requirements abroad. This is from the BSAC web site:- BS 5430 PARTS 1 & 3 WITHDRAWN On March 25th 2002 BS 5430 Parts 1 and 3, which concern the testing of cylinders, were withdrawn and replaced by two new European standards. BS 5430 Part 1 has been replaced by BS EN 1968:2002 (steel cylinders) and Part 3 has been replaced with BS EN 1802:2002 (aluminium cylinders). In view of the lack of guidance from either HSE or BSI, IDEST have advised their approved test houses to implement the new standards by 31st August 2002. Changes: The test periods have changed from four years to 5 years and inspection period from two years to 2.5 years. The cylinder must have the test date stamped on it, as before, but also have a stick-on label stating the date of the next test. The 'intended contents' must also be clearly shown on the cylinder, such as Breathing Air, Nitrox or Trimix. Any cylinders tested on the preceding standards should allow the certificate to run out and then be tested in compliance with the new standards; they should not extend their validity period. These changes are to bring diving cylinders in line with the 10 year statutory testing for industrial gas cylinders. These new standards now refer readers to other British Standards for guidance on stamping, labelling and colour coding of cylinders. Regards Paul |

| Imported post Well either they are a bit backward here in Holland or they just don't know, I have asked quite a few dive shops for information about markings on cyliders and as far as they know it only affects cyliders for industrial use! I even asked some German dive shops and they only knew about the black and white quartering of the neck (now on my cylinders). So has Brussels made another cock up?
