Buddy Pocket Reel

I don't know why I did it but today I bought a Buddy Pocket Reel. I was bewitched by it's simplicity and size (although the lanyard looks a bit naff). Now normally I'd hunt down some reviews before I spend money on dive tat but I figured this wasn't a lot of money and it just begged me to take it home!!!

So....open forum LOL anyone got one? Anyone used one? Any faults, failures or points I need to watch out for?????

Used one for around 5years now like it, love it ,keep it in my pocket and
try not to use it ! But I do sometimes and winding is slow when used with an DSMB but I never let my DSMB off until around 15m Do deep stops free hanging then pop the blob up I have a co2 blob with suit inflate as well ! Only use co2 if I have to, as yet never used the co2 only used the suit inflate
I always carry 3 reels 1 AP buddy reel! 2 dive rite reels! {1 big 1 small} 2 red DSMB co2 with suit inflate! 2 yellow co2 DSMB 2 lift bags!! On nearly every dive!

One of the worst pieces of diving equipment ever invented - it promises so much and delivers so little. Put it away now in that box full of embarrassing mistakes you've made. Don't try and off-load it onto some other idiot as you'll only feel guilty about it later.

I have one and its still attached to my back up DSMB and in my left pocket on all dives, works fine if prepared, bit like most reels, nice and compact but a pain to reel up 'cos its so small, but hey it's a back up.

I've used mine as a distance line as well and its ok.

Get rid of the lanyard, i nearly popped to the surface when i got my thumb trapped between it and the handle

hmmm...I have had a few tonight so I might have missed something.....but I only saw two people post a negative comment on the Buddy reel in that thread!

Anyway....have to confesss....it's not my first choice....as I have a spool for that....I just don't want anything bulky to contend with.

Have it in my oh-bugger pouch, but at the same time I have a spool too. It's my second pocket reel, the other one jammed one time too many. I'd probably use the spool if I my primary went bye bye
