My instructor uses one, as she can't get water in her ears due to a previous rupture. Was a little bit of a hassle to get used to at first I gather, but now she's used to it and deosn't seem to have any negative impact on her diving.

And we all gte a good laugh when she first dons her hood with the ear's cut out

one of my mates was using one last week becuase he had an ear infection. It looked a bit daft but he had his hood over it without any holes cut out. He seemed to think it worked. Worth a try!

Rainbow - yes you still have to equalise, the ear cups are connected to the mask via 2 slim tubes so when you equalise your mask you also equalise your ears
