Imported post Cheers Andy, I'll try that - although it'd be good to find a method which didn't require a hard surface (e.g. getting fins off before wading through surf back to sure).

Imported post Regards taking off or putting fins on. I find it is best to do it floating on your back. You can't fall over and drop a fin and it is the only way you can safely take your fins off on a shore dive if there are any waves. I wish I could find a shop that sells the springs in the uk. Try these links for fin strap ideas http://www.public.iastate.edu/~cburk.../fin_index.htm http://www.cyber-strategy.org/pers/FinStraps.html (Edited by budgy at 12:23 am on Dec. 24, 2002)

Imported post Hey Budgy, If you mean URL/weblinks, you should be able to post as many as you need to mate. Take a swatch at my posting in 'Information' regarding 'Useful Weblinks' and I've posted around 50 in the one posting. Let me know if you're still having problems and we'll get you sorted out. Cheers,

Imported post Thanks, Budgy! Excellent links! "I find it is best to do it floating on your back. You can't fall over and drop a fin and it is the only way you can safely take your fins off on a shore dive if there are any waves." It may just be old age, but lying on my back in the surf with my knee under my chin and trying to pull my fin off isn't easy! :sofa: (Edited by John Gulliver at 1:53 pm on Dec. 24, 2002) (Edited by John Gulliver at 1:54 pm on Dec. 24, 2002)

Imported post budgy you said that you wish you could find a shop that sold the spring straps in the UK, well I watched Dalesdiver making some for Bren on Sunday, they are top quality and much much cheaper than you can buy them anywhere else.. As soon as my XL Jetfins arrive Andy's making mine too.. Don't delay order today.. ;)

Imported post Hi Dave, I have tryed several times without success to find a UK source that either makes or carries the extension spring as a stock item so I could make my own. The cost of ordering the springs made in small quantities is prohibitive. Hi John, Floating on my back putting on the fins I cross my legs reach forward put on a fin then bend the leg and reach back and hook on the strap. To take off I bring my heels back and reach back and unhook the strap, left hand left fin then reach forward and stick my fingers in the jet holes and they pull off easier. Right hand right fin. I can ride the waves floating on my back in about 5ft a lot easier that anyone can standing up, let alone standing on one leg. Losing a fin by falling over cost me £80 and wasn't even rough I realised I had to develop a working system for myself. A middling corporation man like myself can manage it. If you just practice you may find its the easiest most self reliant way to do it.
