Hi Gang
I need a new waterproof box/canister for my PLB.
The "O" ring is leaking.
I have been told the original makers/distributors have gone out of business and "O" rings are no longer available from that source.
The only option I've heard of so far from my local dealer is the OMD Stainless canister at aprox £75.00.
Anyone out there got other suggestions.
Kev W

I saw a neat looking CD one a few weeks ago. Wouldn't a pelican-type box do it? Depends on how deep it needs to go and stuff, but you could make your own...

Surely there are other o-ring makers about?  Making your own shouldn't be difficult worst case.

Are you saying that there are companies that just supply o-rings. You are a mine of information, i would never have thought of that.

The internal dimentions are 3.25" x 2" x 4"deep.
I did try making my own but being a useless git it leaked.
The original one has grooved top and bottom edges for chanels in the casing to fit into.

If it is a "funny" shape/size it is easier to make your own.  Most o-ring suppliers (should!) have stock o-ring material on a roll.  You specify the thickness, use a special cutter, cut to length, some o-ring glue and voila...
Just be careful that the join leaves no ridge.

Yes, it's true Doug, there ARE special places (called "SHOPS&quot where you can "BUY" things (well, you can, I'll just think about it till the feeling goes away).

By the way, my foot's killing me after shifting your bl**dy boat - can't think how I did it. Good dive though.  Very good.  And by the way, I think the people should be told - my lunchbox is so big it can get yours in it!

How come i managed it then,  you're almost as bad as Simon.  I told him to bring his Mrs next time because she's probably stronger than him.  Yes it was a good dive, vis was brilliant, lovely swim through, bass, huge anchor.  We'll do it again in a couple of weekends once i've temporarily fixed the keel.

If you chat to the nice people at marine and rescue http://www.mrtbeacons.com/

They may offer a part ex to update to the new oil filled EPRIB, its tested to 90M I think and goes in any old pocket until needed.

Really cool.

Jerry
