| Well I have 2 reels 1 is a Manta Junior that I have used for the last 2 years with no problems ,the 2nd is a 150 metre Kent Tooling rarchet reel that I bought mainly for line laying but I must say I prefer the action of it for Smb use over the Manta .You can get smaller versions of the KT reel.See here :- Engineered Diving Products in Marine Grade 316 Stainless Steel best advise is give John at KT a ring & talk to him about what you want from the reel .He will not try to sell you bigest only the most suitable for your diving . HTH He also sponsors YD as an advertiser as well

| CD ratchet reel with 125m of line, great reel. Solidly built and great for bagging off on deep wrecks. The ratchet on free run is also handy for when you need to lay line. Used mine for the last for 4yrs and bar the usual bump and scrapes still works as good as day one. Not cheap, but i got fed up of replacing cheaper reels every season when they broke and fell apart. So i plumped up the £££'s for the CD reel and its still doing its job nicely 4yrs later. ATB Gareth

| I have used the following for blob launching: Spool. Cheap, easy to deploy, compact, rubbish to wind in. Buddy pocket reel. Embarrasingly crap in every way. Do not even consider it. OMS Cavern friction reel. Not bad but not ideal. A bit big. MGE multi-function reel. Piece of crap. Ratchet breaks, button seems to be permanently set to "random". MGE old-style reel. Much better. Apart from the crap plastic hook. Kent Tooling reel. Nice to look at, nice to use, weighs a tonne so don't drop it. Narked at 60 minimax reel. Cheap, small, great for firing blobs. Like a mini-McMahon but better. My personal favourite. Manta Jr. Nice. Bloody expensive.
