In fact, true dive gods don't use fins at all. I know because I saw Howard "Foxturd" Payne jumping into Vobster today without any.
*snigger* guy in our club got all the way down to the deck of the Thesis in the SOM without his fins, realised, then came back up the shot. He had to wait for someone doing a reasonable length deco stop on the line to finish as he was too embarrassed to go past them without his fins on.

Anyway. I've just bought some Mares Quattros and they are noticably floatier than my ND jetfins. Perfect for wetsuit diving but I might have a go with them this weekend in the ol' drysuit and see what happens.

I dave [1] Quattros gti for a while and they're definitely more powerful than Jetfins. However Jetfins are more stable in the water.

On balance I prefer jetfins, unless I'm really legging it against a current when I regret not having the Quattros.

Let him cry - I always thought that crown of thorns was an entanglement hazard anyway. Have we not reached an agreement on the past tense of diving yet? YD's bloody useless for getting anyone to agree on anything. What about "derv"?

Look. You can't say that it's useless getting people to agree, and then introduce a new term.

The past particple of Dive is "Dave." Full stop. Now stop startin' and start stoppin'.

    Finless.

The real answer to this ankle weights thing is to bin the drysuit and be a real diver and use a semi dry.

I know, I know, I'll save you all the trouble.

    BURN THE HERETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Yours soggily,

    David.
I took up diving because I was tired of being told I was shallow!

OK say that again after an hour in Stoney in 4 degrees water. I'll be sat there in my 300g Thinsulate, under-thermals and thoroughly toasty feeling while you wonder how you are going to get enough strength in your hands to push the DF button on your BCD.

    Thumbs up

I had a problem with too much air in the legs of my dry suit on the first couple of dives but found if you spend a little time on the surface getting all the creases and air out of your legs you have less problems when diving another tips a thick pair or two of socks.
