Neoprene socks. That's the answer to floaty feet. Strange though it may sound, a pair of neo socks for some reason stop your feet from being floaty.

It's a bit of unexplainable diving magic.

is it because the neoprene isn't an airspace compared to woolly socks?

WANKleweights more like - pointless rubbish and the floaty feet syndrome is purely that - a syndrome

look at all the divers in the 5thD DVD - all rock-level trim with knees bent at 90deg

At my age, I'd be on the surface for bloody hours trying to get the creases out of my legs.

Ankle weights it is then

Now that neoprene socks idea sounds like it could be worth investigating. With my drysuit I haven't had floaty feet syndrome, but just recently I've taken to wearing my old Wooly bear socks inside the boots and I've been getting a little floaty again. Where's a good place to get a pair of neoprene socks as I can't recall having noticed them for sale anywhere before.

Yes but they are all officially Strokes so we'd better not copy them. And they use Jetfins which are about a kilo heavier than other fins. And they are not girls. Girls for some reason seem to have floatier feet. Probably because they have Slender Ankles. [1]

Janos

[1] - Although I have shapely ankles and my feet aren't floaty.

Decathlon sell loads. About a tenner, maybe less. I have a pair from them and they have lasted quite well- about 100 dives although they are starting to split now. I must stop stomping round gravel car parks in them. Otherwise Otter flog them.

I wear a pair of "Rock Sandles" over them. This protects the neoprene. You don't get stones tuck to the bottom which escape into your suit, and wearing socks and sandals shows everyone my political allegiances.

I do exactly the same unless I forget my sandals which doens't happen that often.

And, as you say, socks and sandals are really really cool.

Whoopee, Woz took the bait! By the way did you get to use the Eurostar passwords I sent you and just for future reference if you did, did it all work smoothly. The Telegraph bit I mean, I quite like Eurostar.

Bait? What bait? You're blathering, man.

Missus Woz failed to pull her finger out in time to take advantage of the offer. Silly girl. I shall have to spank her later...
