Question Which Compressor?

Am looking to buy a small compressor for filling up to about 300bar. It needs to be one phase electric.

Is any one make better/more reliable than the others? Any recommendations?

Ta, Steve

Midnight & I have a small single phase electric 2.8CFM Coltri-Sub. Our's is 225 Bar, but can be changed to 300Bar.

I know Juz and one or two others on here have this unit & I've not heard anything bad about them. Ours is a little beauty.

L&w

Steve

I've just ordered an L&W 100 compressor (Lenhardt & Wagner) because I'm moving back overseas and want to have an air source I trust. The L&W 100 is 3.5 cfm and can be supplied with a single phase electric motor or petrol engine and work up to 330 bar - although mine will be set to blow at 250bar.

The only reason I went for L&W over a Colti-Sub is that the compressor service people I know all said that the L&W's are compact, bomb-proof and well designed and built and that the units are easier to service when necessary. Price is similar. Central Compressor Consultants in Stroud are one supplier.

Only time will tell if this is any better or worse than others. Would also be interested in other opinions - through if I've brought a pup I might rather not know!

Hugh

compressor choice

Hi Steve
Have a look at the CompAir single phase Compact or the Bauer Junior II.
Both will deliver air to 300 bar and have good filtration.

By the time you have surfed the web and seen several manufactures offerings you may start to think they all look alike. I am a bit suspicious that a factory in China is turning out compressors and people are sticking their badge on them.......

Hi Neil,

It would not be the first time diving related equipment is being made in one factory and then re-badged but I know the Coltri Sub Compressors are made in Italy at a very impressive Automated Factory see attached pics;

You can get more Spec details at the link below;

In all honesty, the MCH6 is a little slow for bigger tanks and I would advise the MCH16, but it is more money.
