Think I've been ripped off to the tune of £170!

I was looking for an o2 analyser and decided on the ANALOX 02EII. I googled it and found a place called Dive-tech.co.uk, placed an order, payed by paypal £170, now nothing. The phone number goes straight to answer machine, the e-mails are unanswered......:

Has anyone else dealt with them? It is very poor customer service to leave your customers not knowing what is going on, I'm £170 down and don't have an analyser for the weekend. I could have easily got it from Go Dive, where I got all my cylinders and now I really wish I had of.

The guy who runs it is called Mark Powell and I am sure there is a good reason for taking my money and not contacting me about the order BUT I would very much like to hear it!

Mark is probably away diving at the moment. Don't worry, you have NOT been ripped off and you will get your analyser. You can trust him.

The Mark Powell I know, would be mortified to hear of himself described like this.

How long have you been waiting for a reply?

OK very nice for him but leaves me without an analyser so makes my planned diving at the weekend very difficult. He could at the very least have put a message on the news section of his website that says "Sorry I will be away from x until x, all orders will be dealt with on my return." I would have then ordered it from somewhere else and would have it today.
Hope you can understand my frustration!

Well, rather than leaping to conclusions, why don't you give me a chance to call him on his mobile and see if I can get in touch with him. I'd be willing to bet all the assets I have that you have not been "ripped off", your order will either have been misplaced, or Mark will have been sidtracked by something that required urgent attention.

Presumably you are getting Nitrox from a shop. in which case they will analyse it and you will have to sign for it. If you then need to re-analyse it I expect someone on the boat may have one that you can borrow, failing that ask on here if anyone can pop over to your place and do it before you dive. If you are decanting mid-dives on the boat I dont see it as a big issue as you will probably running a mix you can calculate anyway if you already know what you have in your tins. A bit of a mountain out of a molehill I'm afraid.

calm down, go diving, enjoy.

Matt

Mark's a nice bloke so I would guess he's underwater at the moment. In fact I know he's underwater as he's running a trimix course in Weymouth- I'm on the boat with him tomorrow. He'd be gutted to read this.

If you leave a message on his mobile he'll get back to you when the boat gets back in.

I am sure Mark is an upstanding guy but in this instance I am without what I paid for and without any reason why.

I am now also comfortable that I will get my analyser. I asked the question, the forum members answered. (some in a more adult manner than others!)

It was not a big problem and it is now sorted!

If I can get confirmation from Mark that you have placed an order with him before the weekend, then I will get an Analox2 to you before the weekend that you can borrow and then return when yours arrives, as I live in Haywards Heath myself.
