| I have 3 cutters: (1) A simple, but very sharp line cutter for mono filament on the right side of my harness. (2) A pair of trauma shears on my wast band. (3) A knife on my outer left forearm - this is the easiest place to get to it IMO (idea courtesy of Martyn Farr). Yes I have used knives / cutters on a number of occasions. I also agree with Roger about not mounting on on your leg. Well the outside of your calf anyway. I did that at the start and kept getting it tangled in rope, kelp or whatever. I figured that as a knife was there to get yourself out of an entanglement and mine kept getting me into an entanglement, I should move it .

| I have a small knife on my BC hose and trauma shears on the waistband of the BC. Never had to use either. Arfie

I have a z knife and shears on my waistband and plan to get a small knife for somewhere around my torso, probably left shoulder/hose area (haven't got round to it )On the wrist/forearm is a good place, but I'm short on space. I like the torch idea AND I have a plastic heron ![]() If you think about it, trying to get to your leg when tangled in some way is going to be difficult, especially if it's the leg area that's tangled, which given that's the 'trailing' area of your body, is most likely. Certainly no good if in a confined area/overhead environment In true Farrworld styleee I also have a Stanley knife on a snoopy loop for up my arm Quote:

| Well, I've used all sorts of knives, and so far I'm a big fan of shears behind the D-rings on my waist. It's space on the harness not used for anything else, and easily reachable. One each side if you're a bit anal like that. I used to have a big sharp knife across my arse, I might go back to running one across the bottom of the backplate. I've only really needed a knife the once, and I really needed it. Got one hand tied to my waist, and had one hand free to get out. You couldn't see the line at all, first I knew about it was when I felt it on my head. Netted@70... Digs |

actually makes it more likely. Just ask an insurance underwriter about that one. |
