Warm water fins

In September i am off to cyprus and normally I just borrow a pair of my mates fins, but he is miles away so think its time I bought some for the warmer climes. Now normally I wear TURTLE fins and I wouldnt change these for the world but my feet in wet boot are not the size of a house brick. Any opinions?

If I ever found the need to replace my fins, i'd get the same again - Mares Avanti X3's... or maybe the Quattro's. Plain, simple, not very exciting, but they just work.

In fact, they were the first bit of kit I ever bought, and the only thing I haven't replaced! Approaching their fifth birthday and never even had to replace a fin strap!

I used to wear Quattros abroad, but found the Mares Volos quite a bit lighter. I use Volos in the UK too - nice to dive.

here's another vote for the Quattros, i flick between those and scubapro jets, but for flying the quattros are much lighter and, having just had a quick run to the scales, the quattros weight....... 1.75kg

never tried the volos so can't compare am afriad

have fun on the hols

Ooh, I thought the Quattros were heavier. Anyhoo...

Volos size regular with Wozstraps = 1.6kg per pair
volos size small with normal abs straps = 1.4kg per pair

I've used the Mares Volo fins in the past - very light when compared to my Cressi fins (that I've had for nearly ten years!). I can't really fault them, lightweight you hardly notice that you're wearing them.

Unfortunately they weren't as flexible as I had hoped - I managed to step backwards onto the fin itself and snapped it clean in half.

Still it won't stop me from buying another pair (I still have the other undamaged fin as a spare!)

Thats my only gripe with the Volos - I've heard of too many snapping in half !!! In action they look like they've got a fair bit of flexibility though - probably thats the trade off .

Oh dear, I didn't know that. I've had mine since 2002 with no problems. They are the 'old' Volos, not the Volo Power or whatever they are called.

I have quite fancied the look of the volos until someone told me they were shite against a current because they are so bendy. Is that right?

I will probably be hard pushed to find a pair I like better than my pixie boots anyway.
