Pretty sure Kent Diving have some pink CD line in stock - unsure of the length but it looked quite bulky.

Otherwise Custom Divers themselves or our man John from Kent Tooling (manufacturer of the above mentioned bestest reels in the world !!)

I've just got one of those buddy pocket reels for my smb. I've taken the springs out of the locking mechanism to avoid accidental jams during deployment and it seems to run fine. One of my buddies also has one and his has jammed tighter than a very tight thing after a few dives!.

Q. Is this a common problem and are they any good?
(i liked the fact that it is enclosed, possibly reducing the risk of loose line tangling)

Yes and No

These things are crap. If you want something compact and easy to use, buy a spool and learn to use it. Fortunately, they are popular on eBay, so you should be able to minimise your loss on this.
