| Other Dive Equipment: Discuss What does it say on your yellow DSMB? in the Dive Kit and Equipment forums: Hi, I've been thinking about what would be the most sensible thing to say on an emergency yellow DSMB. 'Send ... |

| Far more useful to have something that distinctly identifies you. Most skippers seeing that would maybe look at it, maybe consider calling the coastguard, and might if they were really really bored send a diver down to look. But unless your boat identifies it as your DSMB, and you've left them a drop tank on the boat, then you're being rather optimisic in thinking you'll get one, or that it'll contain what you want. Far better to have your name, and brief the skipper "if you see my name, send my bottle". Because even if you have briefed them, if they can't identify your DSMB from all the others then it's pointless. David |

| Of course it has my name on the other side. It would probably be sent up next to a red bag with my name on it as well. Cheers, Mark. |

| I don't have anything on mine. This is on the basis that if i am in a situation where it is likely to be used, then the skipper will know exactly what to do if it goes up. It will be on the same line as my main, so the skipper will know it is me.

| SOS down one side and OH FUCK with my name down the other. Would be sent up same line as a red bag which is a halcyon 6ft one Just so you cant miss it of course Its part of our dive brief that we will not send gas down a yellow bag line unless you have provided a cylinder with whatever gas you want in it, lines, float etc. We would also want to know some sort of procedure to go along with it, how long we have etc. TBH all of the groups doing diving which needed a drop bottle had one with them and were perfectly happy with the above. I would use mine not as an "im out of gas" but rather "i have screwed up, be ready". But thats just me

| Only "AL" on SOLAS tape. I don't expect the skipper to do anything if they see it unless i've briefed them first. If it is the only SMB i'm carrying and may be used then i tell them it is yellow. If i'm carrying two, my primary is red secondary yellow and could mean simply "i've lost primary follow this one instead" (which was my reason for getting it in the first instance!). Quote:
