You can't without unstitching the D rings on the end of the webbing (the ones you pull to tighten the shoulder straps). hi woz it's the strapping above the female part of the shoulder clip which you can unravel from the aforementioned part of the clip.I asked the guy from ap valves what my options were, and he did mention those clips, but he then went on to tell me how to thread the slider/d ring/female shoulder clip together,my eyes glazed over after ten seconds!! help. | Fraser, I have just taken a few photographs, let me cut them down in size a bit and I will post up a graphical explanation.

| How To Thread On A D Ring OK, assuming you can get to the 50mm webbing on your BC. I have shown a standard D ring here, but the format is exactly the same for a bent one like you might use as a chest D ring. I used the standard one, cause that what I could easily access You need 50mm webbing, a D ring and a Tri Glide/weight belt retainer. It doesn't matter if the retainer has teeth like this one or not. I have both on my harness and they both do the job great. But if you wanted to use them as a weight belt retainer, I would suggest the one with teeth. ![]() Next have a look at the retainer. The middle bar may be slightly pushed to one side or another. If it is, then the side it is pushed to, will be the 'back' of the retainer - i.e. it will go nearest your body when on the webbing. In this picture, you can see the middle slightly raised. ![]() OK, now thread the webbing up though the first slot, remembering which side you have just discovered will be the back. ![]() Now thread on the D ring, the straight bar will go between the webbing and the retainer. ![]() Take the end of the webbing and push it down through the other slot, and you will have trapped the D ring and the middle bar of the retainer with the webbing. ![]() Pull the webbing tight, and you have a functional D ring! ![]() From the back ![]() Just position it wherever best suits you. As I said, if it is one of the bent rings, the technique is exactly the same, just be sure you put the ring on the right way around before you get your position right as you will only have to take it off again. Easy!

Though, I think the welded one I have now found offered by Dive Cellar may be a stronger option. .

Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland Posts: 2,402 Fraser, I have just taken a few photographs, let me cut them down in size a bit and I will post up a graphical explanation. __________________ Paul cheers Paul, had a look at the pictures, and that looks easier than it sounded,I'll just be careful and only take off one harness connector at a time.I did order the ordinary d rings, but i think i'll phone and get the 90% ones instead, sounds a better idea. thanks, Fraser. |

| Right. If it's a D ring above the clip you want to put on then yes, on Buddy jackets you can pull this out from the "shoulder pads" and unthread the clip. It simply goes twice through a tri-glide to form a loop that the female bit hangs off.
