Weight Harness - any good ones, any to avoid

Mrs B wants to buy me a Chrissy pressy, I would like a weight harness as my weight belt keeps slipping off my slim hips (or over my belly).
The requirements are that it doesnt need D rings and needs to take soft weight pouches, over to you guys, what's on the market and how much, what should we avoid like the plague and what must we buy else our life wont be complete??
TIA
Matt

Bowstone.

Avoid: Beaver, ND. They're rubbish and fall to bits.

Hydrotech and DUI ok but have a wire release system so are a PITA to thread back together. Bowstone you can drop weight into the pouches without even removing them from the harness.

I love mine and use it if I need to carry more than 8kg. 8kg or less I use a rubber weightbelt.

Bowstone.

One of the best bits of kit I have. British made, and if you do have a problem, second-to-none backup.

Nd ones are crap and twist to buggery just before they fall apart. DUI are OK, but a complete arse to re-thread - so not great for RIB diving etc.

The only one I have personally used is Bowstone, so I can't compare to any others. Though I did look at one of the ones with a wire release system that Woz mentioned, and they looked well fiddly.

But it is a nice piece of kit that takes abuse and keeps going.

No matter which one you get, I would suggest going to your local builders yard and buying a roll of roofing lead. Then cutting, folding and shaping the lead to fit the pouches of your harness. I made a selection of different sizes, so I could adjust my lead when I adjust my kit configuration. I also put Gaffer tape around the edges of the lead so it wouldn't damage the material when sliding in and out of the pouch.

Yep, I agree with BOWSTONE,

I asked this question about 6 months ago, and on advice bought the bowstone Harness with pockets, (i nearly lost my Weight belt on Safety stop!)

Bomb proof build quality and great to use, my diving is much easier than the old weight belt + blocks

I have a Dui one and its great...Avoid the Scubapro one... although you won't loose the weights as they are held in by pinch clips, they were constantly falling out of the pockets and dangling there... that was a real pita..
