Two things I have found out about gloves.

Now this may sound obvious to you more enlightened lot, but:

1/ Poseidon Proglove5 are so called because they have 5 fingers each, not because they are 5mm thick, in fact they are 6mm.
2/ Poseidon Proglove3 are great in chilly water, ie. Crappers today. My first dive (61mins) was bl@@dy freezing with my normal 5mm gloves so i bought said mittens and had an altogether warmer second dive (70mins).

Hopefully it'll warm up now I've bought cold water gloves.

Get 'em while it's cold...they're lovely

Today at Capers I wore my 2mm Northern Diver reef gloves and my fingers got a bit cold at the end of the 52 minute dive. I do have 5mm but I found that as they are not as flexible as 2mm my fingers get colder far sooner.

I had a pair of the poseidon mittens. They were lovely and warm, but waaaay too big. I dont have particularly small hands, but the extra small ones were still too big and i ended up selling them as they were flushing water through when i moved my fingers. Also beware as they can be an utter git to get on and off

Now that's interesting, because I found them extremely easy to get on and off. More than almost any other glove. I await apprehensively the arrival of the waterproof 7mm mitts because I did quite like my Poseidon mitts. We'll see.

Maybe I'll write a big long kit review once I've swapped gloves with everyone on the SOM trip at the end of March. That's as cold as my diving's going to get any time soon, and so far we all seem to have come at it from different directions and ended up with a shortlist of only a few pairs of gloves. The Posiedon 5 finger, 3 finger, Scubapro Kevlar jobbies and waterproof mitts and gloves. I'll see who's first to beg me to borrow my spare 3 finger ones. I'll wager a pair of Beaver gloves will be in the spares crate before any others

Digs.

I've got a shiny pair of ND drygloves to trot round the SOM. Should be fun. With some backup 5mm Poseidons but the index finger is knackered on one after too much nose picking.

Or there is always the Marigold option. I'm chucking a pair in the bag. Should be interesting.

On no account buy the super stretchy 5mm Cressi / ND gloves. They're utter crap. Wear faster than an angle grinder through soft butter and water flushes through them if you do anything more energetic than, say, a slow Nazi salute.

I cant remember what suit you have Digs, but at the time i had my old membrane where the arms were too long. I tended to find the mitt too long and pushed forward by the arm of the suit. I suspect i would get on a lot better now i have a decent neoprene suit but got some custom made ones from Ben
