Other Dive Equipment: Discuss Has anyone got a 4lb weight mould I could borrow? in the Dive Kit and Equipment forums: bit thick - but how do you plan on actually melting the lead?? xx We use a gas burner....

Lead has a low melting point, calor gas has enough heat to melt it.

Not in the near future. Remarkably we have persuaded the relatives to leave the SW and visit us for a change. I can't see them staying long.

lead moulds

ive got one that makes weights of about 1.8kg (my brain doesnt do imperial).
any use to you let me know.
lastly id second what people have said about making sure home made moulds are completely dry. any moisture left and the lead bubbles and spits like mad !

No i made about a dozen weights and still have the mold somewhere but the shape of the block must be nicely tapered to allow easy removal. Some of my lead blocks are a bit square on the sides so thats not so good.
