More Diveyaking . . .

With the Sevylor Rio turning out to be a poor choice for diving ( not robust enough ), I'm trying a Sevylor Diveyak now, single seater.

This yak's looking a lot more robust, and punched through some moderate surf on Sunday.

It 'feels' a little bit 'tippy', but it's not dumped me in the 'oggin yet

Here's some piccies

And here's what it looks like from underneath . . .

Appologies for the excellent viz

Q. Why did the razorbill raise her bill?

A. So the sea urchin could see her chin!

Nice set up Colin, I dive from an inflatable too but mine's 14 ft long with a 30HP Yammy on the back. It's the leftmost of the two shadows in this photo at 25m off Port Arthur taken last weekend.

(Apologies for vis in that one too)

I was actually looking at a Diveyak before I plumped for the inflatable but anyway..............I was wondering, what sort of sounder is that sat on the bow and how is it set up? I'm looking for something similar for the rubber ducky.

It's an Eagle ( owed by Lowrance) 168. It runs off a 12v 7Ah SLA battery in a 'tupperware' box with a watertight gland, and the transducer is fastened to the bottom of a 'tupperware' box ( actually, they're 'klip' type boxes ) and tethered to the yak, so it just gets towed along near the back.

Seems to work up to about 4knts ( I can't paddle much faster )

HTH
