I dunno anything about anything and i expect this is a silly question but couldnt you just colour it in at the required intervals and then there are no knots to potentially cause a snag?

At first glance this might seem like a good idea, but do you remember being taught/shown the effect of being underwater on colour ?

I use marks on my ratchet reel line to indicate 15, 12, 9, 6 and 3 metres below the surface - in case I ever have to deco out with two knackered depth gauges.

Unlikely scenario, but not impossible, and the marks do no harm at all (i.e. not knots which could possibly lead to a snag).

I used a black laundry marker to make 0.5cm wide marks on the line - one for 3m, 2 for 6m, 3 for 9m, etc.

HTH

Dave.

When i say 'colour in' i mean with a black marker on white line but i suppose if vis is really bad or if it's really dark you would prob struggle to see even that.

Naomi - I took it that you meant Black or as near as.

Ignore Phill - he doesn't get out diving much.. well maybe once a week - but its confined water, 50C temp and has little yellow duckies for buddies..

so in order for this to be of any use you have to have

1. Lost every depth guage / computer
2. Lost everyone you are diving with.

Seems a little careless

Much ?

That's a total exageration, as well you know

I've just re-read it and I apologise, it came across wrong.
