2 part answer

1 - yes it is suitable for RIBs

2 - why pull out the weights? Take off your BCD/ Wing etc whilst holding onto boat and just turn around undo the harness buckle - get your mates to hold onto the straps, slip out of it and your mates pull the whole lot into the boat.

Thats what I do. I have no problem floating in my dry suit wearing the harness.

I pass the weight pockets up one by one, means you are only handng up half your weight at a time. Then the harness is good for people to grab hold of and help you in if needed.

Our AI had trouble being helped into a rib.... he passed out the pockets from his Scubapro Harness... and unbeknown ti him the guy pushed both shoulder pinch clips on the harness.... when he took his BCD off, the harness just slipped away..... never to be seen again.

I use a harness on a rib.... just pass it out whilst hanging on to the boat... I always make sure my dump is closed and am prepared to dump the weights should I loose my grip.... I'm confident I wouldn't have a problem.

I've got a DUI harness and I'd argue its easier to handle than a weightbelt. Also if you have a tendency to struggle to get back into the rib the boat bitch has a nice webbing strap to grab onto to give you a helping hand...

The only problem is if when loading the rib before the dive one of the numpties picks up the harness by the bright yellow handles. I've now managed to get to the point where I can rethread it in 2-3 minutes, but it doesn't stop it being annoying when you ask someone to pass you your weight and it gets sent back in three bits...

My wife and I use a rope with a couple of karabiners on the end which is fastened to some secure part of the rib. Clip one karabiner on to each of the weight pouches before releasing. Saves having to heave heavy pouches over your head and there's far less chance of losing them.

We use this when hardboat diving too because my wife is disabled and cannot climb a ladder carrying any weight.

I have an old ND harness. I love it!
Just pull the pouches out & hand them upto the boat Then take your BC off, pass that to the boat.

123 kick like hell, someone grabs the back of the harness & heaves you gracefully into the boat. job done.
