Smile Jotron AQ4 strobe leaking - solved

    Hi
I was one of many that bought one of these off ebay from that co in Aberdeen

Since I've had it, it has leaked slightly - not loads but had to dry it out after each dive.

I checked oring etc - greased it - placed properly as per instructions - still leaky -

Then I noticed some flash (burr) on the split line of the plastic moulding that holds the battery. This was holding off the o ring. I filed and finished with emery cloth till smooth and this has solved the problem - at least to 25m anyway!!.

If anyone else is having the problem please post - or PM me if you need pics / better explanation
    Regards, Mike

Thanks for that insight, I am on to my second jontron, as the first one flooded on the first dive I did with it, not been in the water with this one yet, so out with sandpaper.

you need to make sure the o ring goes in the right place - its not where you would think! it should be between the yellow housing and the slidy battery bit to make a full seal. It doesn't go in the screw on bottom bit

Mine flooded a while ago (same batch from Aberdeen I think). As far as I can tell it's totally shafted.
I called up Jotron and they said they'd check it out.

We'll see... maybe they'll replace it.

Mine flooded last weekend - I am drying it out and will grease it up again and see what happens. Will go have a look to see if there is a burr though.
