| I have just finished reading it this morning. I must say I really enjoyed it and does make you think about some of the risks we take. Even after the author had his bend that nearly crippled him for life, he still returned to deep dives but this time returning to the surface, missing stops was not an option. What the Rouses' did may have been prevented by using a more suitable gas, but they took the risk and paid the price, with senior doing what he could to try and save his son. There are lessons to be learnt within the cover of "The Last Dive"

| Just finished it too. Now call me "Mr Stupid" but if the author gets bent 'cos he couldn't find his deco gas as he was narked, then the Rouses go and do essentially exactly the same thing. Not using trimix was a contributing factor but was not the primary reason why they got bent. Surely if you are planning a deep air dive where you know you are going to be a little wobbly, you clip off your stage near the beginning of the guideline you lay on your way into the wreck? Unless I'm missing something obvious.

| OK, Now that I have finished it. There must be many others out there who aint read it so, as Jim Shaw gave it to me in return for a donation to Chris Hall's fund, I am now prepared to post it on to someone else (I will pay the cost) and that person can donate to Helens' fundraising for Chris. (a tenner I think is fair- I know you can probably buy it of Ebay cheaper before anyone tells me, but this IS for charity). Once that person has read it , then they could do the same, and on it goes, a bit like the Woz cylinder. All those that receive it can sign the inside cover. So WHO'S next???????

| Am I the only person who hasn't got to grips with this book I bought because I seemed to be the only person who hadn't read it. I am struggling to get into it, I have had two sessions with it and I am still only on page 38 which isn't like me at all. I am finding that I am frustrated with Chris Rouse because I feel he is so arrogant and the relationship between father and son is irratating.I am on the verge of giving up unless someone can tell me that it will improve soon. |
