Wanted: 2mm stainless plate and 3mm round bar

I've been busy making my own 'Goodman' style handle for my umbilical torch and came up with the following.

It's made out of Delrin (black bits!) and brass with stainless allen screws. I think it's going to be ok (but still has to be dived) so I'd like to replace the brass bits with stainless steel.

I'm looking for a length of 3mm diameter round bar (100mm or longer) and a piece of 2mm thick plate big enough to get 2 x 80mm x 25mm (for the sides) and 1 x 60mm x 60mm (to form the clip) out of.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Very professional Dave.... must be the enguneer in you!

No idea where to get the stuff you want - just want to congratulate you on a nice piece of work.

Can you make me a reel?

Thanks Rich I did serve an apprenticeship as a fabricater/welder many moons ago...it has its uses I daresay a reel is possible if we can find the materials...

Thanks Woz I'm not sure of the effect seawater will have on the brass though? I'm happy to leave it if it'll be ok...just don't want some horrible green hairy looking metal after the first dive.

You will need a chap to polish it for you after each dive!

Is the single strap secure enough or is there lateral movement in the light head - looks like it might wobble a bit?

It's dull slowly over a long time. One dive won't turn it green. The ally torch body will rot at about the same rate.

You missed the end delimiter for the BBCode in the quote...

[ / quote] (had to put a space either side of the "/" or the software doesn't show it! No spaces in the proper version!)

The software needs the "/" to tell it where to end the quote block.

No wobble mate. The shallow groove where the torch sits on the platform is enough to resist any potential for twisting and the strap and clamp are exactly the same as those used on the Frog wing (I just measured and reduced the scale) and you know the clamping power of that

I'm expecting it to loosen initially as the webbing gets wet and stretches. Should be ok after that though.
