YD DIR Gig 2005 Potential Dates, Gig Format etc.

Hi

In 2004 we had a great DIR meeting. In 2005 we want to ensure that we make it even better.

My first choice is to hold the gig on the weekend of the 29th and 30th October 2005, and to do this at Stoney again as it has the capacity and is central for most people.

Michael Waldbrenner came over and talked about his diving within the EKPP team. He also promised he would try and attend again this year so I thought it best to plan early and get dates in diaries.

What I am asking for at the moment is some requests on what you would like to do and see for 2005's event and whether the dates/venue are OK. I also thought that a number of different workshops held on the Sunday might be better than just a general get together at Stoney so I have placed some options.

There is a poll where you can vote but ideally I'd also like comment on what you thought was good, and what you would like to see improved.

Votes are Public and you can have more than one vote

After this poll I'll create the real attendance thread so this is just to get an indication of what people would like and allow me to prioritise what I need to fix first, like date and venure for example

Andy

Date and venue are good, I personally I would like deco and scooter workshops.

Maybe Bob Cooper could do a cave presentation, AK to do a tech presentation and RW to do a DIRF presentation covering all available courses, video film etc, these could be run in parallel to avoid people having to sit through presentations they have previously attended etc.

Following the same set-up as last year would be good with regards to food etc and maybe try and bring the event inline with Micha's workshop in DE which was held recently.

Workshops would be great - it was the DIR gig which made me want to do my fundies course.
This should be a great opportunity for people who are DIR-curious to come and ask the questions and see what its all about.

Hi Rick

Thats what I thought too, although my initial feeling is to do some kind of presentation and dinner as before, but do the workshops during the Sunday, so you can use your own kit, get in the water, and maybe do the workshops on a staggered basis. That way you could attend more than one.

A workshop to me means that you 'work', rather than sit and watch if you know what I mean .

Andy

PS A little bird told me that Michael might come along

Nice one mate, have to "spread it around" so can't green you unfortunately. I think sticking to last time's format would be a great idea (if it ain't broke etc) with workshops/presentations, food and diving.

Have to insist you don't personally pay for everything this time though

Fraser.

PS personally hoping for a scooter workshop but hope to be doing a course before then anyway. But the other workshops are also a great idea.

All divers are welcome, although yes, it would be better if those who want to turn up are DIR interested because we won't be talking about anything else
I would have no problem with you coming along at all Matt, in fact, call this an invite mate
