Cool Submarine Escape Training Tower (SETT) July/Sept 2005

So all you budding Quarry Commandos whats your excuse this time!

Interested to know if anyone fancies diving the Submarine Escape Training Tower at Fort Blockhouse in Portsmouth (formally HMS Dolphin). This takes me be back to a former life workng with guys who actually went through here and it is about time I got to see what it is all about. 30m deep, top to bottom vis and 34 degrees.

http://www.horseadivecentre.com/sett.htm

Let me know and we can try and put something together. Its only open one weekend in the month so we will need to plan ahead. November can be difficult to get in the sea so why not give this a go. Plenty of other places to dive in the area so we could make a long weekend of it.

I've been wanting to do this since I was a kid. I am going anyway, care to join me?

Do you think it's worthwhile taking my Goodybag?

I'll be up for it, depending on dates, etc.

More details.

Hi Guys,

Glad to see you also thought this was a good idea. Another YD buddy will be joining the list shortly, so we are up to six.
Just tried to provisional book the Nov slot and its now all full booked despite what it says on the web site. Bum!
So what are our choices. Today we have a choice of July 23 or 24, Sept 3 or 4. I can do either weekend at the moment, please let me know your preferences and we can get this booked ideally this week as I am away on business next week.
Details are on the web link, but its £35 per diver with min 10 and max 14. We are up to six now, so its worth booking and persuading some fellow soles to join us.

Cheers

Steve

Sat Sept 3rd AM confirmed.

OK Guys,

We are on for the 3rd of Sept am session after the false start for Nov .

I have kept the list as it was. Please let me know if you cannot make it as I know the date has changed. I will PM you just to confrim. I have also picked up another three straglers along the way. Min 10 divers max 14. Can't wait.

I will provide the O2 kit as recommended by the SETT facility, although with the thought of a 10 storey climb I'll probably be using it before we get to the top.

We can sort deposits out in a few weeks.

Dive Safe.

Steve

Guys, Bantam put up some pictures from the SETT from last year. They can be found here, to whet your appetite: http://yd.underwaterlife.co.uk/SETT/

It's a cracking day out - make sure to visit the submarine museum while you are there!
