yes, I think we would head down to the rainforest, away from Quito, and do a rafting or kayaking package - not that I have found one, just off the top of my head.

I have read your itinerary - I wonder if the trekking is as hard work as the Inca trail or not - the ascents look pretty much on a par...

They deliberately make the first few days easier to let you acclimitise. John Paul (the tour operator who incidentally I used to share a house with at Liverpool Uni) said they have had a woman of seventy and child of twelve who both did it so it's not THAT hard.

Also it's fair trade.

A child of Twelve!!! when I was 12 I could play football for hours on end, I used to run everywhere and tried to beat the bus to school eveyday which was a 3 mile journey (the bus had to go into town first though)

The woman of 70 had probably just run a few marathons

I may be on this trip yet and i'm prepared to walk as far as the jeep

Time to dive.

Sorry to hear about your probs Lou. There's a few football chaps out there who know how you feel.........
Think back to the World cup a few months ago, a certain Owen fella twisting his knee in a horrible way...............

You could always try the Fiona way and I don't mean the dark side either

Yes, the horribly perky young A&E doc broke the news to me in that very way..."you've done a Michael Owen", said he...*Lou looks blankly at him*

I refuse to see Machu Piccu until i can get there under my own steam, so if it isn't on this trip, it will have to be on another one. Good job I always fancied a trip down the Amazon too

Yes I must admit, having been up a few hills in this fair country of ours I must admit the feeling of satisfaction in getting to the trig point is a great one......

I'm off to get a tot of malt and wish you well for Tuesday.
Keep us all informed..............
