And I'm looking at you Mr Davey Willo! Need to organise the bank holiday dives for August. St Abbs seems as good as any to me but any other suggestions are fine. Things to remember:

1. Book the dive boat (if boat diving)
2. Source local accomodation (camping seems the norm now)

I expect to see this all organised by the time I return! (hehe) :whip:

Jay

OK it looks like I've had my instructions....

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where we go or is everyone happy with Abbs, after all it has everything we can want, from fantastic diving to great campsites and divers are totally catered for... I'd like a plan 'B' tho incase of unfriendly winds....

All suggestions for the venue welcome but whatever we decide it'll have to be soon as its already the beginning of August.

Who know anything about loch Fyne?? diving?? marine life?? camp sites?? etc etc....

<span =''>Yup. Ammers, Frog and myself all dive Loch Long, Loch Fyne. LF is a bit of a further trek but St Cat's and especially Furnace Quarry rock as dive sites (fishing boat in 42m). Camping (and Congar alley, torpedo run, spitfire) can be found at Ardgarten, just up from Arrochar at the head of the loch. LL also has Finniart (A-Frames from an old WW2 US Navy pier that was "disposed" of) and the Caves (massive boulder shrewn dive - take a rope for the "little" climb down the waterfall).

Not forgetting the famous Pit Stop Cafe :icescream:

Erm - when is the Bank Holiday? (Shift-workers curse; never know what day it is or what's so special about it!)

We don't have an August Bank Holiday in Scotland ... it's at the end of Sep instead.

I'm off to Abbs tomorrow <me gloats>

and Prays for nice weather.

Question is - do you have the balls for St. Mary's Loch? Freshwater loch on peat! From about 4m down it is essentially a night dive due to zero light getting past the "pink" water (bacteria). Perfect bouyancy control needed as often there are no visible points of reference and if you touch the bottom you will a) lose your torch beam to about 0.5m b) sink into the bottom!!!!
