Hi All

The boat is Pete Hambley's, from Eddystome Dive Charters

It is 2 days diving, the Saturday and the Sunday.  I need to fill both days so please sign up for both or I am stuffed!!

Doug, if you want to come then please e-mail me.  I don't think that there is too much danger of filling it before you - as you can tell I am struggling, so any waverers, go on, give it a shot!

UPDATED LIST

This is the score.

We have 1 boat available for the 30&31 Aug for this trip.

It can take up to 12 divers.  The cost per day is £300.  We will do the James Eagan Layne and similar wrecks with maybe a reef to finish.  This can be decided between us but seeing as I'm now organising it and  want to dive the max depth will be about 30m!

No deposit has been paid and hence we are using the goodwill of the skipper to keep this boat for us.  Please don't let us let him down.

I need, from you, asap, a firm commitment indicated by reply to this thread and an *e-mail* to me (so I have your e-mail address).  This then needs to be followed up within a day or two with a cheque, I will reply to your e-mail with my postal address.

To ensure we have a go-er, and I am not left out of pocket I will work on a boat-load of 10 people, hence the cost will be £30 per day each.  If we get 12 on the boat I will refund you the difference in cash on the weekend. So, that is a cheque for £60 each for the weekend.

There is accommodation as Andy described earlier for £12 per head with the skipper.  This is B&B where the breakfast is tea, toast, ceral, coffee etc.  There are a variety of bed numbers in the rooms including some singles.  The others are twins or triples.  Please indicate if you would like this option, or if you will be camping or arranging something else.  I am not going to be responsible for you bed arrangements!

So the list is....

1) Lou Sat & Sun
2) Caroline Sat & Sun
3) John Duncan  Sat Only- Cheque received - Cheers
4) Tim Ingmire Sat & Sun??- Tim, please e-mail
5) John Rudolf (Mdemon) Sat, poss Sun- Email received, cheers
6) Alex K Sat & Sun- awaiting contact via Andy P
7) Doug Parker Sat & Sun
8) Doug's Mate Sat & Sun
9)
10)

11)
12)

Subs:  Adrian Kelland (bless you!)

Come on, nearly there!!!  The schedule of dives will be OUR choice remember so if there is something within rec limits that you have always wanted to do, suggest it and we can try for that!

Cheers all

Lou (going greyer by the minute!)

p.s Doug Parker has raised the possibility of some local night shore dives in addition to the boat dives if anyone fancies it?

4 John Duncan      PAID
5 John D's mate (?)
6 John Rudolf (Mdemon)
7 Doug Parker

SUN

4 Doug Parker
5 Doug's mate
6 John Rudolf (Mdemon) ??
7 Andy (Lou's mate)
8 Graham (Andy's mate!)
9 Alex K
10

Which gives us the 20 divers we need for the weekend.  Hooray!!

Can I ask all of you to finalise your requirements by sending the cheques?  (£30 per day each).  THose of you have have rallied round and pulled in mates, can I have your friend's name and money off them too, please?

The ITINERARY is still open for discussion so any requests, get 'em in!

HOWEVER there are two provisos....
1) One dive on Saturday is the JEL to accommodate the desires if Mr Duncan and mate

2) At least the second dive of each day is, or has provision for, <25m to accommate Mr Parker's requirements

Suggestions so far include HMS Elk 34m, Persier 30m, Sunday out at Eddystone, and Hilsea point which has gullies and drop-off ranging 6-30m.  Any comments or additions?

I will speak to the skipper as soon as I can get hold of him and discuss these, and any others you add with him.

Thankyou all again for your quick responses.....except Tim who is on holiday as we speak!

Cheers

Lou

Lou

I'm glad it's working out, it looked touch and go there for a while. Now to get your accomodation sorted. Are you camping or B&B?

HMS Elk is small, no more than 100 feet long, does not take long to swim around the outside, then do the inside. 1m south of the breakwater, probably the closest of the sites to Plymouth.

Rosehill is in about 30m, further into Cornwall than the JEL.

Eddystone, pick your depth to 60m

As the JEL is 24m to sea bed, i would say you do this as a second dive on either of the days. It is also close to home from first dives except the Elk. The JEL is a big wreck, so you could do it twice and not see the same stuff. I have done it a few times and can never remember my way around it. Do as 2nd on return from Eddystone or Rosehill

The shallower parts of Hilsea could be done on the return from the Persier.

See you soon

Adrian

Hi Adrian

As far as i know the accomodation splits down thus...

Lou, C, Tim - camping
Doug, Mdemon, John Duncan, and mates x 2 - staying in their own homes (jammy gits!!)
Andy, Graham, Alex - Pete's "B&B"

I see that Tim has booked the Riverside campsite so I will be giving them a call to try and book there too.  Where are you guys?  We'll have to meet up apres dive, if you don't join us - or even for a night shore dive?

Dived the JEL and Rosehill once earlier this year.  Keen to do the JEL again as we only scratched her - fantastic dive!  I would love to get out to Eddystone if the weather permitted but everyone else would have to agree as its a bit of a trog, I believe.

I'm easy on what other wrecks or reefs etc.  I thought Hilsea sounded good because folks could choose their own depth and that'd keep everyone happy, plus I read it is full of dogfish and I have a soft spot for those...

Cheers for the extra info.

Lou

Myself and Rachel(non diver) are also booked into the Riverside. I could commute from Exeter, but the chance of a social gathering come first.

Hilsea is fine, there's a reel of mine down there somewhere...The shallower parts probably have a lot of kelp.

I would like to do the JEL enough to know my way around well, but there are too many other sites to do. Shame

EDIT -

Spoken to skipper Pete.  The Sat is a 5.5m HW at 0830.  This means that a possible plan for the Saturday (weather permitting) is Eddystone (slack at about 1100), pick your depth, followed by JEL, 24m, in the afternoon.

Sunday has something like a 1000 slack water and a possible dive plan here would be the Persier, 30m, followed by a tidal drift on Hilsea point, pick your depth.

Of course, as always, this depends on the weather gods so  commence the sacrifices

Thankyou all again for your quick responses.....except Tim who is on holiday as we speak!

Cheers

Lou
