What time is slack at Stoney.   Can you get something to eat during a surface interval or do i need to take a huge lunchbox.  I'm assuming that i can spend the day there and get a couple of dives in, seeing as it will probably be the only freshwater diving that i will ever do.

Slack at Stoney is 15 minutes before closing time, yes you can get food there, or so I'm told. As I have 'issues' with food I take my own, that may be a good option for you too Doug as I believe food is a personal taste issue.
You do know that Stoney virgins have to wear a yellow vest over the BC dont you?

CU there
Matt

<font color='#000F22'>there are the infamous stoney burgers (with 1/2 hour wait thrown in) available for mid day tucker or food in the pub for those of you with money to burn.

How about meeting up infront of the map next to the shop about 9, saves peering in all the car windows (and handily includes the ritual wonder down to the shop to see what we'ed spend our money on if we had it before getting kitted up)

&nbsp;I assume that's so they can keep an eye on us newbies. &nbsp;Do i need to bring quals/medical or the fact that my kit looks the part will do. How many dives do you have to do there before you're considered capable then. &nbsp;I'll bring my own food though, burgers are supposed to have some meat in them rather than bran.

<font color='#000F22'>no, though I do beleive that some swop the yellow vest for a yellow overhood thingy.

no quals/medicals need just turn up and look like you know what you're doing. MUST have some kind of BCD or wing as they won't let you dive without one (or refund your money) as a mate found out to his cost.

I had already thought of &nbsp;bringing my own food. &nbsp;Eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, hogs pudding and having a fry up. &nbsp;Lard of course, none of that healthy muck. &nbsp;A layer of fat insulates you during the winter dives.

Hey, you can have a great time with the chip roulette. You get a plate of chips, of which one in six will be cooked. It's impossible to tell from the outside, and as the monkeys in the cafe can't count, they don't seem to time how long it takes to cook a fryer full of chips. So, you take a chip, and there's a 5 in 6 chance you'll get a gobful of uncooked potato. What fun.

The gas barbecue isn't a bad idea, but I don't reckon they'll be too chuffed if you start the thing before the water closes. They seem to be ok with people doing it early evening, but when there's divers about they can be a bit funny. Then again, we are going to be so far from the water it's silly anyway.
