Extra baggage Allowance

<font color='#810541'>I've e-mail the airline we're flying out to Egypt with (Excel) asking if they allow any extra baggage allowance for the flight, I was really suprised to get a reply back saying no...How tight is that, especially as I explained that I was a diver and I'd like to take clothes as well as kit!!!!

Has anyone else experianced this fling out there?

Also, what are they like on the way home? (I know places like Greece, you could pack the world and his wife and they wouldn't batter an eyelid)

Given that it's a direct flight to Sharm you would have thought they'd be a bit better geared up for divers. Who the hell else do they expect to have on the flight?

I'd better practice packing my bags and weighing them, then.

I asked the same question when I went out in April and got the same answer. They gave the impression that it is in part due to the fact that there are so many divers that they don't offer any extra allowance. If it was another resort with less divers on the flight I might have got a few extra kg.

Having said that we checked in with two bags just under 25kg and two 5+kg carry ons and nothing was said. On the way back I don't remember them checking at all.

This time I am aiming to be on the 20 kg mark just in case (in fact I just saved about 4kg by buying a new bag).

BTW Kate, did you get a letter telling you about a change in flight times? I'm not looking forward to getting to LGW for a 9:30am departure.

I will, in fact I am tempted to wear a sign around my neck saying 'don't let this person leave the airport without buying beer'. How much beer should we get each for the week do you reckon ?

<font color='#0000FF'>We discussed Excel a week or so ago on another post.  I went on their website and they DO allow and extra 10kg for divers EXCEPT for Egypt flights    However Geoff Oldfield has just been with them and he said they were fine with all his excess.

I always find they are OK if you are chatty and polite with the check in staff.  Greet them with Good Morning and please and thankyou's how can anyone get shirty with you after that.
