Question ARIEL on 3rd April

Hi all,

I've got a spot on the trip to the Ariel this Monday. Can anyone shed any light on this wreck? The nearest Ariel a quick n lazy Google threw up was a destroyer which rammed and sunk a U-Boat in WW1.

Also, if anyone has a general description of the wreck, that would be smashing.

Thanks all. Much appreciated.

Well according to Dive Sussex its a Steamer that sunk following a collision in fog on 10 June 1892 with the Lancashire. her cargo was wheat from Varna (Black Sea) going to Hamburg.

Sits in 28m with the bow broken off and a bit deeper No brass or bell left on her. Position 50 38 54N 00 24 48W.

Is a nice dive, there's a few dead eyes still on it too, the bow is a distance over flatish ground from the rest of the wreck, and on its port side. The midships is collapsed but upright. The stern is upright and reasonably intact nice too swim around, steering quadrant on the top, broken bottles, sinks and stuff about there too. Wreck pentration is possible at the bow and stern if thats your bag, the stern offers a good rummage inside. Theres still port holes on it coz I've seen 'em, nice if they were left there too. 30 odd metres top wack.
Enjoy, just hope you can see it..
John
