Hiya Ken,

We were on her last September. We had a few problems, nothing too major, but TB was excellent in sorting us out.

The food wasn't great but the facilities in general are very good. Big cabins, plenty of room on the decks. Free Nitrox.

Be careful of the high dive platform. One rough morning I climbed down into one of the ribs which promptly slipped under the ladder and punctured a tube. Cue a mad scramble in full kit into the second rib.

Overall we had a good week including one of my greatest in-water moments as an Oceanic Whitetip circled me for a few minutes off Elphinstone Reef. This was nearly followed by one of my greatest in-water movements as I remembered I was snorkelling and probably looked like a (giant) meal to the shark! One bump & I reached that high platform without touching the ladder!!

Think there was a 'gig' from these forums last year, could be worth a search for. I saw the 'high' dive platform on GSS when I was on Hurricane... spose you'd get used to it, apart from that, she looks a beaut! Simply the Best is a great itinery - you'll love it. (If you don't go for GSS, try Hurricane) TB have a great rep for customer service - I didn't need it (thank God) but it seems those who have needed some support from them have sung their praises.

HTH

We had a large group of YDers on her last September if you check back in the trip reports you will probably find it.

The food was limiting if you were a vegi, although when Lou spoke to TB at the dive show he said he would look into this.

We didn't get free nitrox, I didn't think that started until December.

Dive platform was rather high but with careful entry into the rib it was OK, even I mastered it in the end.

We had two guides on board Ahmed 1 and Ahmed 2 hope Ahmed 2 isn't still there. Keep your eye on him if your taking a lady with you

Would I go again - YES

Thumbs up

The crew on GSS (Jan 06) were superb Hami, Ahmed and i cant think of the other chaps name - and the boat is rather nice - best bathrooms compared to Hurricane and Diamond.
I have yet to dive Brothers but have heard great things about it, whereas Elphinstone and Daedulus were both superb - shark action, walls, drifts and a lot of sea life.
I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time
Jo

Um, I was on the trip with Fiona and came away with a rather disgruntled husband. If he is still on there I hope he has calmed down a bit with the laydeeees...his attention was somewhat inappropriate if I am being polite about it!!!!

Watch the high platform!
getting into the RIB on a "less than calm" sea I slipped, and landed on a tube with my weights pushing into my rib's, my buddy then fell ontop of me - 3 #ribs and torn intercostal muscles......
Ouch!
Big cabins, food not as good as on Hurricaine.
Deck/Boat crew great.
Ahmed 1 excellent
Ahmed 2 a TWA*..
Watch out on the last day - they check the fridge in your cabin to see how much beer you drank... and tried to charge us for two cans extra.
Going for the arch?

We are both rescue divers with 200+ dives should have a deep ticket by the time we go, what do we need to dive the arch?

Ken please do not get excited about this, Paul was very naughty he shouldn't even have mentioned it.

FYI, The Arch is at Elphinstone but it is very deep and isn't really a dive which will be offered. We had a different guide on the boat.
