The requirements will be specific to the final itineraryfor each theme trip and the equipment neccessary to pariticipate.

Participation is key, the creation of UW content and publishing to a wider audience will be a key feature of the liveaboard weeks. There are no restrictions on experience, other than what is required to dive on the itinerary for each week.

By keeping specific themes people with pariticular interests can focus on photography or video, or maybe even both. The advantage being dives can be arranged specific interests with the guides so content can be collected more easily.

As with most Red Sea liveaboards AOW or equivalent and 50 logged dives are asked for, though I've known some flexibility with that. We have no requirements but Pro Dive are operating the boat so we need to meet theirs.

As for projects - well it depends what we will be doing on the trip. We might be doing some filming and would hope you'd want to get involved. It's something that might add to the trip for those who have dived the locations before and are after a little more to interest them. If you are interested we can teach you how to use a camera and send you out to get some footage of your own. Or we can get you involved with what we are doing - behind the camera or in front.

The only real effect it is likely to have over a regular holiday is that we may want to select specific sites and for filming purposes might dive them more than once.

Other than that I don't expect our activities to have much impact at all. We will be there to generate content for Travel Dive and we'll be encouraging you to get involved, but at the end of the day you are paying for a holiday so it's your choice on how involved you want to be - though it would be a shame if you ducked out. I'd hope everyone would enthusiastically throw themselves into it, as that should make for a real fun trip for all!

As Alan says, participation will be key to getting the most out of the trip.

Is this going to continue next year?

As this year i have a lot of comitments (Family and Diving) to fit a trip in.
I am interested and hope it will still be avalible some time next year!
At which point i would like to be doing some underwater still photography and think this sort of thing would be a great learning experience.
Thanks
Ian

We'll have to see how well it goes - early days yet!

Pro Dive have boats elsewhere that can be made available to us and other large tour operators are also in the frame. But response has been a bit limited so far - I'm guessing many may have been waiting for some more details to see exactly what was on offer. Once we get going I'm expecting the momentum will pick up.

At the moment by virtue of being the first one listed!

There is a facility for registered members to rate the operators they have used to give other members an indication of the level of service given. As more businesses come on line and more people vote the ratings will become more representative.

To find the other operators click on the 'Diving' tab at the top of this page. This takes you to a map. In the selection boxes at the top select first 'Africa' and then 'Egypt' and click on 'Go'. You then get a map of the region.

Check the boxes on the right for the kind of operation you are looking for (currently 5 dive centres, 21 holiday operators and 2 liveaboards). This flags their locations on the map. Click on that and it takes you through to a page detailing their services, links to their sites and other contact details.

Shortly we hope you will be able to get prices, availability and book holidays on-line - direct from here!

The operators are ranked by YD members - on each of their pages you will see an icon at the bottom (thumbs up or thumbs down) - click on the one you want and it will add to or detract from their rating. Can I suggest you read the user guide as this covers all this off for you.
