Given that the issue is sort of resolved in that the people next on the subs list want 2 spaces and there's only 1 available *AND* they're happy that it goes to the person who put in a show of interest but forgot to amend the list, I think we have a solution...

Still, worthwhile checking.

Thanks,
Simon
Thats cos we're all nice people eh!!! Recurring trips like Porthkerris can be extremely popular when a recent trip report goes up!

Worthwhile thread this, interesting that people go with the subs bench list.

A suggestion for any future gig/trip lists is Some of the bigger gigs like YD4 Farnes or Kathy's Gos trip have the up to date gig sheet on the first post which only the thread starter can edit. Makes it a good way of seeing exactly what the score is.
Not something I would have thought off but I think this is a good way of running a trip thread, maybe ask James or Kathy if they think it is though!!! - puts more work on the thread starter!

But it would solve some of the problems where you get someone pickup a version of the gig sheet that isn't the latest and people accidentally get dropped.

Edit: tried to give you some green for the idea, but apparently I have to spread it around a bit first

My view is that it's a lot of work and stress booking a trip. As long as you don't deliberately do the dirty on people, then I wouldn't worry about it too much. People will understand.

Jeez, too true - don't envy those doing the big trips like Scapa & Farnes

I did this for the St Abbs trip in April. It wasn't a big trip compared to the Farnes in Sept, but it does provide a definitive list so people know what's what, even if it means extra work updating it. The main hassle really is monitoring the money/payments, especially if there is a chance of deposits being returned. Like James, if I was going to organise a big trip I'd say pay money up front and it's non-returnable. If someone cannot make it and has already paid, then it's up to them to sell on their space to someone on the reserve list.

But the fact that people from YD decide to organise trips is what makes this place different, so big up to those that put in the time and effort.

Dave

Collecting the money

I usually find that first come first served on receiving deposits simplifies who is coming along.
It is often useful to know something about the quals and experience of the divers-especially if you have planned something 30+m.
