Cool TGIF WW1 Cruiser HMS Hermes Gig II - Fri 2 Mar

OK then as the Tuesday Gig filled up so fast i have put another gig on:-

Friday 2 March the WW1 British Cruiser, converted to Seaplane carrier HMS Hermes. If anyone from the Tuesday Gig wants to cross over to this one then thats fine by me.

Meet at Dover Marina 1230 to depart across the Channel on Neptune for an 1430 dive time on the French side. The wreck is quite proud in 32m. We are midway between Neaps and Springs which usually gives some quality viz This is a single dive day and due to the long run across the channel will cost an extra £5 for fuel so £30 each.

A bit more about the wreck:-

knots; triple-expansion engines; Babcock boilers; eleven 6 in.
guns, eight 3 in., six 3pdr., 2 m.g., 2 T.T.
The cruiser Hermes, Capt. C. R. Lambe, had seen nearly 14 years
service at the outbreak of the First World War, by which time she
had been converted into a seaplane carrier. The ship was one of the
early victims of submarine warfare. On October 30th, 1914, she
arrived at Dunkirk bringing seaplanes from Portsmouth. The
presence of German submarines in the Straits of Dover had been
reported on the 29th, and the greatest vigilance was maintained.
She cleared Dunkirk for Dover on the early morning of the 31st
and, when some eight miles W.N.W. of Calais, was attacked by a
submarine, which hit her with two torpedoes.
Despite her injuries Hermes remained afloat for nearly two hours.
Of her complement over 400, including Capt. Lambe, were taken
off by the South Eastern and Chatham Railway Co's steamship
Invicta, and two destroyers. The drowned numbered about 44.
This is a DIR friendly gig and no need to go deeper than 30m

Woohoo, one I can make. Anyone want to buddy up? I'll have a twinset of 32 and don't mind a little bit of deco, depending on how cold it is by then...
