Leeds City Council don't allow diving in Waterloo Lake, I know, I've asked them!

Plus there are fishermen using the lake. You'd only get caught in a net/line. Image in that story, 'You should ave seen the one I caught this morning, It was THIS BIG......

I'm sure living near Holmfirth, ther are a few local quarries which have a bit of water in them?

Actually, strictly speaking, that statement's not true.

Diving does take place in Roundhay Park, but it's usually the police pulling dead bodies out.

It's very deep, and very cold. The kids like to jump in when it's very hot, with the usual consequences.

It's also a boating lake, and as Dave has said, a fishing lake.

ColinM
P.S.

If you find somewhere else, let me know!

Years ago I was talking to a guy who had to park his car in an unruly area and as the local thugs looked on he said to one of them "if you try and break into my car the guard dog in the back will have you", the reply was "can it put out fires?" Which I guess would be a mean feat!

Good luck with the pond.

An old diving mate of mine jumped in the river at Boroughbridge to test his hew dry suit. The locals thought it was quite amusing as he got swept away with the current.
Don't quite how far down river he got, but his suit didn't leak.

How about the strid? Near Bolton Abbey. Its quite brown due to the peat runoff water but I quite fancy this after reading about a similar place at the head of the river Dee in Aberdeenshire, near Braymar.

Map of United Kingdom | Multimap.com

The Strid Stretch of River a couple of miles up stream from Boton Abbey.

Divernet | UK Diving | British Summertime

Linn of Dee. Scroll down half way and read the peice about the Linn of Dee dive. Looks facinating and I'd like to try the Strid in the late summer, when its at its lowest.
