Hi All,

Dawn and I were thinking, if the weather isn't too rough, of going to Anglesey on Sunday to do some shore diving prior to Bank holiday Monday.

As we've only ever gone in from the shore there once (Porth Trecastell) on the last YD gig and really enjoyed it we thought we may try some of the other beaches.

Does anyone have any info as to where is good and where isn't so good on the island?

Cheers all and dive safe,

Noel

Trearddur Bay - Porth Diana, opposite Diving Services Anglesey, and Ravenspoint gully, which is a bit further around the same headland.  The staff at the dive shop are a good source of advice.

Porth Dafarch is a bit further up the coast.

You can also dive the Menai Straits(link to Divernet article with highly appropriate title) , there's a telephone cable which makes a good route marker.  Long walk back to the car though.

There's lots of good info in Anglesey Reefs and Wrecks Vol 1 by Andy Shears and Scott Waterman, if you can find it.

There are quite a few good dives at Porth Diana with easy access.   Porth Dafarch we found the best diving was on the left hand side when looking seaward.   The whole of the Bear Necessities Dive Team (both of us) may be there Bank Hol. weekend and beyond depending on the weather.   St Abbs is also in the picture.   So if you see 2 old guys in a red Skoda come and have a natter - you may have to do the talking as we may be gasping for breath

Thanks Eric, We're thinking of Porth Trecastell as we both know it and Dawn hasn't been in the water for a while so it'll be a good place. I've just rung Diving services Anglesey and the vis is currently OK, the lady I spoke to says she could see the sea bottom from the office and the wind is dropping...

Similarly if you see either a blue BMW compact or a silver Escort, come over.

Cheers all and thanks for your help,

Noel
