Virgin Bahamas - January 2008

Hopefully by now you will have seen my trip report here and the article in Diver about the trip Tim and I made to the Bahamas in January.

We were invited by Paul Hinchcliffe to the Coral Caverns dive resort on Andros - a new resort with access to previously undived stretches of the third largest barrier reef in the world. What we found was a totally unspoilt, virgin coral reef. It was simply superb!

The centre has just taken delivery of a new boat which has extended their range allowing them to discover new sites daily.

Apart from the beautiful corals we had regular shark sightings (with no feeding or chumming) and the usual array of reef fish.

The island itself was one of the most relaxing places I've ever been to.

I am going to be making a return trip next January and Paul at the dive centre has given me the opportunity to bring over a group from YD at a very special price.

Here's the deal:

15th to 22nd January 2008

The normal cost to stay at Coral Caverns is $1500 per week, including full board for 7 nights and 6 days diving. Paul has negotiated a 2 for 1 deal, bringing the price down to $750, which will come comfortably under £400 with current good exchange rates. It's half price!

Currently flights from Heathrow to Nassau are about £451 (but these are always likely to fluctuate). I will organise a private charter plane to take us from Nassau to Andros and return costs for that should be about £45.

So, a week diving virgin barrier reefs in the Caribbean for about £900.

Want to get out there, see beautiful coral reefs that nobody has ever dived before and leave your name forever on a new dive site? Well, here's your chance at a price that will never be repeated.

I can take 12 with me and need that many to run the trip at this special price. A £200 deposit will be needed to book - balances later in the year. We'll sort out flight bookings as soon as the trip is confirmed.

Just in case you notice my name associated with that otherwise excellent article, it was simply because the rather nice pictures supplied with it were not in file sizes suitably large enough to use as a double-page-spread.
(Just a detail about the article: Stuart Cove isa person, not a place! He is Scotland today with his wife Michelle, after a swift visit to London.)

We were reading the article last night and it sounded good although probably won't last for ever. We and would be interested in going. I think you are going to IOM this weekend so will talk to you about there.
