Bikini Atoll - flight problems

Please be aware - 2 out of the 3 Air Marshall Islands aircraft are out of action. One group is stuck in Bikini (OK and having fun diving) and cannot get back to Majuro and home and another group is in Majuro and unable to get to Bikini. There is no resolution date available and they are all working to try to get folk fixed..next Bikini flight is next Wednesday. Hopefully aircraft will be fixed soon

Just making sure that news is out there. Gordon

Apart from the quality diving which is no doubt on Bikini... I can think of a lot of places I would rather not be stranded... ohhh all that radiation, no thank you...

(bit of a scardi cat... now getting my coat... lol )

Radiation is not an issue

Oddly enough, the background radiation is higher in Aberdeen..only problem is caesium in the soil - apparantly it is similar to potassium and so any plants take it up and store it...so all food is shipped in and there is no problem.

Saratoga.....

Did they ever get off Bikini or are they still stuck with all that diving to do?

Davie.

still stuck

yup - stuck there till an engine arrives..but after blasting the place with bombs for 50 years, you would think that the US government could spare one of the many Air Force planes they have sitting in Kwajeilin to help the Marshall Islands out.

Divers are arriving in Majuro and either just flying on home or doing some dives in Majuro to make the trip worth while - nightmare

How I wish I'd been on the 15th August trip. That's one exceptional holiday

"rescued" by boat

Divers on Bikini were collected by the coast guard patrol boat. 36 hour trip to Bikini and 36 hours back

Still no AMI flights to Bikini and no word on when they will restart

Angry

We have just had to cancel our trip to Bikini for the same reason

We have had this booked for two years now and were supposed to be flying out the Honolulu tomorrow .. gutted is an understatement

We have re-booked for May next year

I cannot believe the aircraft has been broken since October and they still have not fixed it , the season started on March 1st ... not much forward planning as far as I am concerned
