| Hi Guys Don't want to be a kill-joy and put the cat amongst the pigeons, but the Farnes viz and weather can be very iffy for weeks during the winter and even well past Easter, as many of you will be well aware of. It's not so bad for the 'local' divers, but for those who will be travelling a couple of hundred miles or so, I'd give it some serious thought. Ron

I'll admit though, if you get blown out up here during winter there's nowt really to do, apart from get drunk I s'pose. Seahouses really shuts down starting after half term, around November (ish!), but if William Shiel is still prepared to venture out, it can be well worth it. So don't give up hope.............Graham

| I think most of the point was made Graham The sea might look very calm, but the viz is not always there. By all means have a go if playing with the seals is all you want, but travelling a few hundred miles is an expensive risk, unless you don't mind just drinking all day of course. Cheers Ron

I have booked boats all through winter here, but they can be called the evening before or even the morning of the dive. I respect the skippers for this and it is fine if you live local or have only travelled an hour. If you want to play with seals and you need to travel, I'd say don't take a chance during the winter. The seals will be there, but possibly not the viz or conditions. Sans seals, I am much more likely to get in (IMHO) between November and Feb at St Abbs. And yes, if William is prepared to go out I will trust his judgement HTH Hxxx
