OK, as promised I have now spoken to the people down at Horsea Diving Centre, and here are the requirements for people to do etc.

The minimum qualification is BSAC Sports, PADI AOW or equivalent.
You must have a recent dive to 30 metres

You must bring with you on the day your certification card and your logbook to prove the above.

You also will need to bring an in date medical, or be willing to sign their self-certification form on the day, as I can't (won't!) be signing a group form as I do not know all of you.

They will have O2 and a qualified person to administer it if needed, so we do not need to fulfil the group requirement on that one.

We will be doing the Helicopter Escape and the Sea Survival part in the morning at 9:30, and the SETT dive at 12:30.

You will need to be at the HUET place by 9.20 please. The address for this is Andark Diving and Watersports
256 Bridge Road
Lower Swanwick
Southampton
SO31 7FL
(nearest motorway junction J8 M27)

After the HUET, we will be making our own way to the SETT tower, at Horsea. The post code for this place for your sat navs is PO12 2AB
(nearest motorway junction M27 J10/11)

For the dunker/HUET you will be fine with shorts and T-shirts, although shorties etc are fine.
For the SETT you can dive it in T Shirts and shorts, or again a shortie/wetsuit if you prefer. Don't forget your wetsuit booties if using strap fins!

The only requirement dive kit wise is that it must be clean. ie rinsed since its last dive, whether that dive be in salt or freshwater.

Finally: THIS IS WHAT I NEED FROM YOU RIGHT NOW PLEASE!

I need from each of you the following:

Your full name
Diving Qualification
Nationality
Car Registration and Make

NB: Nationality is because you will be at a military place. If you are not of British nationality, then I need a photocopy of the picture page of your passport immediately, as I need to get the copies to Horsea.

Spectators are allowed in, as long as I have a list of their names to send in beforehand, so DSD and anyone else, make sure they are on the list you send me!

Ideally I need to get all this information to Horsea Dive Centre before the end of this week, so please PM me ASAP!

I will also PM this information so you've all got it

Thanks everyone, sorry its a long list of instructions!

Derek,

Any idea what they mean by 'recent' for the 30m dive? This is an unusual time of year for many to get this depth...

Adrian

HUET in the morning, D'Oh! This curtails my late night Southampton drinking session, lol!

Do we still need to provide the same details if we're just doing the HUET???

Cheers, Lloyd.

I'm pretty sure that anything last summer would be considered as fine, especially if it is in UK waters. Obviously the more recent the better, but they didn't state an actual "last month" or anything like that. I guess ideally it would be "last six months"

Hi Lloyd,

You won't need the diving qualification stuff, but if you can provide the rest it will just make it easier to ensure that everything is covered. If you have any problems there, let me know and I will check with the centre for you.

Hi Derek,
I don't keep a physical log book. I will have proof on my dive computer though - would that be enough to satisfy their requirements?

Will PM you the rest of the info!

Cheers,
Lou

Any idea if we can take a camera into the Huet? I know you can take one into the Sett. I think it'll be kinda cool to have pics of the water rushing in the door, obviously remembering to stop taking pictures in order to get out

Are there people still planning on doing the Mary Rose and HMS Victory on the Sat? if so has anybody sorted out accomadation? I wouldn't mind tagging along as I've never done either of them.
