| Hi Dave May is usually quite settled weather wise but you can get a blow at any time of year so dont count on it. Vis in the middle of May is again usually in the 8-10 m range within the flow but can be much better depending on the amount of fresh water coming off the land so .....the bit of string is that long ! | As Hazel said I'm planning on doing an Adv Trimix course during this week. The course will include; - Team planning for deeper dives - Expedition gas and logistics planning - Decompression issues for 60-100m dives - Diving with 3+ stage cylinders - The use of scooters, lazy shots, deco trapezes, drop tanks, etc for deeper dives - Using support divers There will a couple of skills dives plus deeper dives building up to the final dives which will be between 70-80m (conditions dependent). Pre-requisites are Entry Level Trimix or equivalent. The cost is £500 plus gas. Scapa is a fantastic place to do the course combining reliable conditions with some great dive sites. Doing it onboard Valkyrie also makes things much easier as all facilities for this type of diving are immediately to hand. In addition doing the course in May sets you up for some good diving over the summer.
